The NUS Course Reps Conference 2009

9th December 2009, Birmingham Guild of Students

On the 9th December Edge Hill sent three of its’ Course Reps down to Birmingham to take part in the national conference run by the NUS. The day was made up of presentations, group sessions and a panel discussion. Students’ Unions from around the country told everyone about what they have been up to with their Course Representation Systems, giving inspiration and ambition to us all!

You can visit the Course Reps Hub for more information about the sessions from the conference, as well as resources that might come in handy: www.nus.org.uk/coursereps

Nicole Todd, Course Rep for ICT Secondary Education with QTS:

“Despite the early morning and long train journeys, the NUS Course Reps Conference on the 9th December was brilliant. I left the conference on a high as personally to me the day made me realise how much I had grown within myself and what I can achieve from being a Course Rep. I’m doing and achieving things that I thought I could never do or ever have the confidence to do which to me was a fantastic feeling! That day I had met so many great people from other universities across the country who were Course Reps themselves. It was interesting to hear about different universities and the different issues their Course Reps face. I learnt that most universities are going through the same problems. The main issue highlighted by the National Student Survey (NSS) was with feedback on assignments and the time taken to get marks back. This issue affects Edge Hill University so hopefully working with the SU we can slowly improve this.”
